Jacqui Terry- Event coordinator

Jacqui's journey has seen her relocate from her home country Zimbabwe, passing through Botswana and South Africa to finally settle in Canada in 2006 . She has worked in the visual arts, graphic design and illustration, and communications in the not-for-profit sector, and now is our event coordinator. Jacqui’s background allows her to navigate various communities as well as find creative ways for marginalized groups to express themselves through the arts. She is a founder member of the African Culture Camp (ACC) aimed at empowering children connected to Africa through birth, heritage, affiliation or interest. Her creative vision, energy and desire to celebrate African cultures have found an outlet through our event.

Alice Penny: Treasurer

Alice is a Zimbabwean who relocated to North America in 2000. She is deeply invested in sharing her culture and empowering others to be proud of their own experience - to offset some of the common stereotypes we live with in Canada. She has volunteered with several singing groups as a member on their boards and has experience working in banking, customer service and is working currently in the non-for-profit sector. She has served our event maintaining the integrity of our financial records in the role of Treasurer.

Amber Buchanan: Administrative Secretary

Bardish Chagger: Volunteer Coordinator

Bardish is native to the Waterloo Region and is known for lending a helping hand. In addition to working for the K-W Multicultural Centre as a special projects coordinator, Bardish makes time to volunteer on several Boards and is an asset to any team. In her role with the K-W Multicultural Centre she works with ethnic communities, making the Waterloo Region a more inclusive and welcoming community. She plans conferences and events including the biggest multicultural event in our Region, the K-W Multicultural Festival. Bardish serves as the volunteer coordinator on the Bring on the Sunshine team and is a determined advocate for inclusivity in Waterloo Region.
 

 

Toyosi Awesu: Production Lead

Toyosi comes from Nigeria, West Africa. He is married to Beatrice and they have two children. He is an associate pastor at The Journey, a local church in Kitchener ON. He enjoys playing piano/keyboard and is a gifted teacher, offering both African and European music styles in his classes.

Erin Telegdi: Stage Manager

Erin is a native of Kitchener-Waterloo who has lived in Toronto for the past 10 years. Erin has big love for her hometown of K-W and is passionate about community celebrations of diversity. Erin is pleased to be returning for her second year as the Stage Manager for Bring On the Sunshine. Erin has also served as the Stage Manager for the K-W Multicultural Festival for the past two years, and is also a production/costume designer for the red light district theatre company in Toronto. Erin is currently a Registered Nurse working at Casey House, a specialty hospital in Toronto for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Alison Feuerwerker: Team Member

is a KW-area violinist. She plays violin with the Waterloo Chamber Players and the Guelph Symphony, freelances, and performs with local musicians in a variety of styles.
